KIN Microfinance Development Scheme
In excess of 90 small businesses have now received loans through the KIN Microfinance Development Scheme. Some loans have already been repaid and second loans issued. The KIN team provide training and mentoring assisting those who have no knowledge of business. This is labour intensive work but vital if people are to be given a chance of self sufficency. It means that Kibera residents like Rose (pictured) are able to support their families and have a chance to expand their business and even take on extra helpers.

We have struggled to identify a suitable piece of land for the KIN Family Centre which is at an affordable price and which does not carry undue risk in the purchase process. For the time being a decision has been taken to put the purchase on hold so that the KIN team can devote their time fully to improving and expanding the various projects which are already in place - the Feeding Programme, Guardianship, Education Support and Microfinance. It remains an objective to establish a KIN Family Centre in the long term. |
